This is dedicated to the individual and his freedom. The long journey of history is the individual becoming responsible for his own life while living in a civilization of individuals. "Man's mind is his basic means of survival," an individual reasoning faculty. Attempts to bypass this fact are doomed. Man, having a particular nature as does all of existence, is bound and at the same time free to create whole new worlds by recombining the raw material that nature provides without end.

She makes an excellent point but she is also an example of someone who connects the dots.
Yes, she does connect the dots. Moral fervor can happen in one of two ways: authentic and inauthentic. I don't think authentic moral fervor is possible unless one can see the concretes and their effect on one's values implied by the abstract idea.
It is possible for false moral fervor to exist - like the preacher who is preaching against homosexuality while having a secret gay lover. The energy fueling false moral fervor comes from the fear, the anxiety, of being discovered a liar, fraud, hypocrite and thereby destroying what one had built that comprises his life.
